1957 Chevy Chevrolet 235 Engine Assembly Inline 6 Cyl - 3836848. Aug 09, 2021 1958-1962 Chevrolet 235 Engine Crankshaft #3701488. Came out of Block# 3769716. Take out from pu,complete engine, all metal, bell housing, 2 transmissions, carb, exhaust all parts like when it was new.

The Chevy 235 inline 6 cylinder engine was first introduced in 1941 and was mainly used in large trucks. In 1950, GM decided to use the 235 in several of its automobiles that were going to have the new Powerglide automatic transmission. In 1953, all Chevy 235 engines that were used with Powerglide transmissions were upgraded with a fully pressurized lubrication system as well as hydraulic lifters. If a car buyer chose a manual transmission then they received the older 235 engine design with solid lifters.

One interesting fact about the 235 inline 6 is that it was the engine that was used in the first Corvettes that were produced in 1953 and ran up through 1955. This same engine was also used in GM trucks from 1954 to 1962. In 1963 this long lived engine was officially dropped from the GM production line and replaced by the all new Chevy 230 I6.
