Avaya Communicator is a user softphone application which allows the user to make and answer their calls from a range of telephone devices. Avaya Communicator client software is available Windows and iPad devices. An addition version, Avaya Communicator for Web, is supported through Google Chrome, is not covered by this documentation.

The features available to the user depend on how the user is licensed for Avaya Communicator and whether the system also includes one-X Portal for IP Office and Voicemail Pro.

The Avaya one-X® Communicator window closes, but Avaya one-X® Communicator continues to run and is still logged in to the server. The Avaya one-X® Communicator icon ( ) appears in the System Tray. Client Software
The source for the Avaya Communicator client software depends on the user device. However, since Avaya Communicator is supported on a number of Avaya platforms, in all cases the installer must ensure that they obtain a Avaya Communicator client that specifically states IP Office support.

Avaya one-X® Communicator provides desktop access to your voice messages from a single, intuitive user interface.

Avaya one-X® Communicator does not work with Exchange or Zimbra. When you choose the Avaya message store as your destination storage server for voice mail, you can gain access to Messaging through Avaya one-X® Communicator and listen to and respond to voice mail, make calls, and view fax messages on your personal computer. With Avaya one-X® Communicator you can gain access to all the features you have on your phone, plus voice-video calling, visual voice mail, and voice-video conferencing capability, using which you to join several calls together in a ad hoc conference. You can gain access to your personal contacts list and to the complete corporate directory, and can view your communications log, where calls you receive even when you are not logged into Avaya one-X® Communicator, are tracked.

  • Listen to a voice message

  • Delete a voice message

  • Call the sender of a voice message

  • Add a number from a voice message to personal contact

  • Add a number from a voice message to Favorites

  • Mark a voice message as read or unread
